160 GB Hard Disc Drive (HDD) Benefit: This drive, similar to what is used in a personal computer, can store recorded broadcast programming and dubbed content. The RD-XS34 will allow high-speed dubbing from the HDD to a DVD-RAM, DVD-R or DVD-RW without any deterioration of the digital MPEG-2 signal and provides instant access to recorded programs. So forget about searching for blank videotape when you want to record, simply hit RECORD and let the HDD do all the work.

Convenience
Time Slip, Chase Play and Live Chase Play "Pause Live TV" Benefit: Chase Play allows the user to begin watching a recording that is already in progress. The Live Chase Play feature lets you 'pause' a live recording and then return to it later. During playback of both modes, a bar graph can be displayed on-screen depicting the 'progress' or location of the playback signal with regards to the real time recorded signal.
EASY NAVI Menu Benefit: An entry menu portal that provides quick and easy access to key features of the DVD recorder, such as Timer Recording or DV Capture. Additionally the EASY navi displays a "live action window", providing feedback to the user on the current status of the recorder, whether it is recording a program, in the Time Slip mode, or playing back content with DVD-RAM.
TV Guide On Screen™ Interactive Program Guide Benefit: This Interactive Program Guide provides an easy to read listing of the television programs available to view or record. TV Guide On Screen™ Interactive Program Guide provides: an 8-day program listing, flexibility of recording directly to DVD or the HDD, the ability to perform keyword searches for locating favorite programs and includes the G-Link IR Blaster for controlling cable boxes. When recording television programs, the name of the show, along with the channel and date, are automatically captured.
Jackpacks
Front Panel A/V & IEEE1394DV Inputs Benefit: There are composite audio & video inputs, as well as RCA L/R inputs on the front panel of the unit for easy camcorder dubbing. Additionally, an IEEE1394 'Firewire' jack is also available on the front panel for interfacing compatible digital video camcorders. Provides automatic recognition of the device and on-screen menu controls to easily direct the "downloading" process with the recorder’s remote control.
ColorStream Pro® Progressive Scan Component Video Output Benefit: These outputs allow the highest quality video signal to be sent from the DVD player to a component video equipped progressive scan TV.
